Lawnton Plumber is a locally owned and operated plumbing and gasfitting business working the streets either side of Gympie Road. Our plumbers handle repairs, replacements and emergencies for houses and townhouses alike.
Every job gets a fixed quote before work starts, and payment on the day is by card or EFTPOS. Ring (07) 3067 4289 and you will talk to people who know these streets, not a call centre down south.

Four trades cover almost everything that goes wrong with water, drains and gas in a suburban home. Here is where each one starts:

When water is pouring through a ceiling or you can smell gas, these are the pages to read:

The everyday repairs and installations that keep a house running:

Blocked lines, sewer and stormwater problems, and the inspections that find the cause:

Repairs when a tank can be saved, replacements when it cannot:
$0 call-out fees, available 24/7, and same-day where we can.

Lawnton's housing arrived in waves, and the age of each wave shapes the calls we take. Housing spread here from Petrie and Strathpine in the 1960s, once the corn-flour mill, dairying and the gardens of the Acclimatisation Society had given way.
Each wave brought its own plumbing profile:
on the flat river terraces, many still carrying galvanised steel supply pipes in the walls, which scale up internally and weep at the threaded joints.
off West Dianne Street and Station Road, where a shared drain or one failing tank can affect several homes at once.
, newer builds whose seals and valves are only now reaching the age where they give out.
Those first subdivisions are also where we most expect to find earthenware house drains still in the ground. Their offset joints catch wipes and hair-fine roots long before any failure of the pipe itself, which is why one blocked drain keeps coming back.

Something leaking, flooding or smelling of gas? First steps:

The emergency plumbing services page explains what counts as urgent and what can wait for a booked visit, with make-safe steps for water, gas and hot water faults.
The plumbing overview covers taps, toilets, kitchens and bathrooms, gas fitting and hidden leaks, with a plain guide to whether a job is a repair or a replacement.
The drainage services page walks through blocked drains, sewer and stormwater lines, and how a drain inspection finds the cause instead of guessing at it.
The hot water services page sets out the choice between repairing a failing system and replacing it, and what drives that decision in a suburb full of ageing tanks.

The suburb sits at the junction of the two Pine rivers, and that low ground shapes everything from stormwater to sewer surges. In January 2011, a downpour combined with water released from North Pine Dam flooded low-lying streets here and in Petrie and Strathpine with little warning.
The mapping still reflects that. Council flood planning covers most of the suburb, and a sizeable slice also falls inside the storm-tide coastal planning area. For plumbing, that mapping matters in three ways:
With creek and river backwater inside the flood planning area, street pits take water off the road and from the waterway too, then drain slowly once the rain stops.
When the rivers run high, a low-lying sewer connection can push waste back through the gully trap outside, so shutting off the affected fixtures and getting the main line checked becomes today's job, not next week's.
The lowest ground near both rivers carries acid sulfate soil mapping, so any deep trench for a drain or a water service stays saturated and needs careful handling.
The climate does the rest. On average the suburb sees around 1093 millimetres of rain a year, and the river junction keeps the low ground muggy after summer storms. A pre-summer clear of pits and downpipes is worth booking before the first big storm, not after it.

Quotes move up and down with the job in front of us, and the same handful of factors does the moving every time:
A burst pipe under a driveway or a drain at the back of a townhouse complex takes longer to reach than a kitchen tap on the ground floor.
Cutting into an earthenware branch drain or a galvanised supply line is a different job from working with modern pipe, and it is priced accordingly.
A washer, a valve and a full tank swap sit at very different points on the scale, and the quote reflects which one you need.
Wet, acidic soil on the low streets means shoring and care that a job on higher ground never asks for.
Nothing on that list is a surprise you find out about afterwards.
Our run covers the suburbs on either side of the river junction, and we are in most of them most weeks:
If your street is just over the line in one of these, call anyway. If it is on our run we will tell you straight away, and if it is not we will say that too. You can read more about the business on our about page or check how to reach us.

You will see those four points again on the day: the licence shown on the paperwork, the figure written down before any tools appear, and the card machine when the job is done.
